Actually, each state should take back control of what is taught. The Federal Government has taken control over what is taught across the country back in 1994. A NGO called Center for Civic Education based in California writes the "National Standards for Civics and Government." Schools across the country must teach from this as federal funding is dependent on it, college entrance exams are based on its contents. And it was written without any input from congress as to content and was funded by taxpayers. No longer do parents, elected school boards, teachers or administrators have control of the public school curriculum. Our public school curriculum is dictated by the Federal Government. This is much more in line with Nazi Germany, where the Federal Government controls education and indoctrinates its students and uses them for the "good" of the government.

You can get a copy of the National Standards for Civics and Government at:

Center for Civic Education
5146 Douglas Fir Road
Calabasas, CA 91302

Also, the book "FedEd: The New Federal Curriculum and How It's Enforced"
by Allen Quist, College Professor, and former state legislator is a very informative read. If nothing else, the reviews at Amazon are quite interesting.

Good. Hopefully other States follow suit.

We don't need TX bigots, who are so low as to use children in their politicking, censoring and deciding our curricula.

It would do good for Californians to become more familiar with the trends and values of the majority of America outside of their liberal enclaves. Those people probably would take Hollywood liberals over the moral majority. And in my opinion, nothing those changes say are false. Liberals make everything a racial issue and I've noticed liberalism and ethnic activitism and racial extremism by non whites are inextricably linked, wheras most conservatives see white supreamcists as a fringe movement. In my personal experience evangelical Christians are the least racially minded group of people compared to a lot of liberals who are always racially conscious, including white liberals. A lot of evangelical churches are more mixed than Jeremiah Wright's or Al Sharpton's followers.

So now you want to boycott Texas AND Arizona? Texans and Arizonans never boycotted Massachusetts over their legalization of gay marriage and tolerance of abortion. Massachusetts actually forced Walmart to sell Plan B in their stores. That was a lot more reprenehsible than a law targeting ILLEGAL, and I stress ILLEGAL aliens.

Slippery slope. Why should history of America be dealt differently by state? Why should politicians decide what history or science is, and how it should be taught?

We're one nation. We ought to learn one history. Revising history is for losers, as is the case with Texas board of education. Tell me, what makes them qualified to impose their will on future generations?

TX and AZ can't tell what MA must do. By not adopting MA's rule on gay marriage, TX and AZ are technically doing what CA is doing to TX.

Trinity UCC in Chicago sits in a neighborhood that is 94%+ black. Is it really that surprising that its membership reflects the community where it sits. Trinity does however belong to and actively supports a denomination that is overwhelmingly white (94%+).
