I'm considering a house in the Coral Gardens 02 neighborhood of Stuart. It seems a little mixed in terms of upkeep and such: some people park rusted out cars on their lawns while other people keep the outside of their homes in tip top shape. Can anyone tell me what it's like to actually live there? I have dogs so am frequently out and about walking through my neighborhood, I don't want to feel out of place or nervous about it…

I would think that if you see things in a neighborhood that are not appealing to you then you should listen to your gut about whether to buy in that neighborhood. It could affect your property values in a negative way.

I owned a house in coral gardens for 10 years. 20 years ago coral gardens was a little run down, but then came coral lakes wich seemed to improve the coral gardens area tremendusly. The area cleaned up nice and I bought a home on Washington St towards the end of the road. All my neibours kept their homes in great condition and it was a nice area. Then came the hurricanes and the economic hard times. The area went to S#&*. Half the homes were in foreclosure and renters moved in. I sold and moved to the Greenville SC area. I went down last year and could not believe how bad coral gardens looked.I wish it would come back again, but I doubt it will.Anyway look at crime stats for the area especialy section one and be selective. I am sure there are some good buys there, but I see it as a area in decline.

Well as it turned out, I bought a house and have lived there for 2 weeks. I think you're wrong nmelfi, a lot of the homes are very well kept and it's a very friendly, nice place. The area did experience a lot of foreclosures that are still working through but all in all it's pretty decent.

I was there during thanksgiving and did not see any improvements. If you are in the back on a dead end there still is some nice places. But coming in, renters heaven! Nothing like the nice area it once was.
