Several weeks ago, during a heatwave I took the family to Horsetail Falls to cool off and enjoy! It seemed so did everyone else! Parking was difficult to find. We parked about 1/2 a mile away along the shoulder. My car was over the shoulder's line. I did not see any signs against this. I learned the hard way that this is illegal and taken very seriously here. After about 2 hours of exploring the falls, we decided to pack up and leave. Car was gone. They towed it back to Portland! I had to "bail" the car out in Troutdale. Ãœber had no cars available. Got a ride from some generous tourists from TX to the station in Troutadale. Then was able to catch an Ãœber from Troutdale to a tow yard by the PDX airport to get my car.

Learn from my mistake. There are limited services at the falls. There are 3 benches. That's it- and running water😎.
I left my wife and two kids, ages 1 and 4, at the falls while I went to get my car back. This took 2 hours.

So don't park over the line. If you do, be sure to have food, water, and diapers on you! Also save yourself $350.

? Do you mean that your car was parked over the painted line that separates the shoulder from the roadway?

No offense, but, why would you need a sign to tell you not to do something like that?
