I personally do not care where someone is from as long as they are nice. I am a almost 30 year transplant from PA by way of Seattle. Lived there about 3 years or so. Left because it was starting to get expensive. Wish I would of stayed as Seattle is so much a better city overall. But then I probably would not of met my soul mate and had our wonderful daughter. It sure took a little while to get use to driving in traffic in Seattle. At first it was very scary for me coming from a small city of about 100,000 and could drive all over the county in half an hour or less.

Right now I am a stay at home mom and I avoid driving anyplace in the afternoon. I do have to pick up my daughter on Thursdays from school, which is on 185th and Walker. If I leave at 2:40 I can usually get there by 3:15. I bring a book and wait for when she gets out at 3:30.
I love Seattle, too, though I have never lived there. I am surprised that your child doesn’t quality for bus service though sounds like you have a good plan considering our WA County traffic. The thing about Beaverton is that generally people out here are pretty friendly regardless of their origins.

I'm a former Californian who moved to Texas and I'm very appalled by the magnitude and overtness of anti-Californian sentiment in Oregon compared to Texas every time I come and visit family in the PNW (not that there isn't any in Texas either but it's either less apparent or not as a big of a deal.) I would think Californians would have an easier time being accepted in Oregon than Texas due to more similar political beliefs and lifestyles but reality seems to be the contrary.

Who doesn't hate Californians?

Nope, I'm an Oregonian. Every one of the people who I met and known in my life in Oregon who hated Californians, were all insecure people.

Maybe you should broaden your circle of acquaintances a bit.

I personally don't really care as long as you aren't a d-bag, but I know an awful lot of people who dislike Californians who are by no means "insecure" in themselves or their positions in life...

You could substitute Californians with persons from any other state.
Does that make anyone who dislikes New Yorkers or Texans insecure?

Who was more insecure?
The Yankees or the Rebels?
People who rooted for the Panthers or rooted for the Broncos?

Ya think that there might be some underlying issue with the disliked group?

Yours sounds like a pretty defensive and general statement to me.

Note that I used the word "Dislike" instead of the word "Hate" in this post.

I guess I know more people that very strongly dislike Californians, then actually "hate" them.

But it's a pretty thin line to some people I guess.

I don't think that's it at all. I think many Californians are self-centered narcissists. yeah some people are probably just jealous, but Californians deserve some of the flak they get for sure...

Yep, I've seen your posts on the Orlando forum. Sounds like you made a good choice. I'll be moving to that area next year myself.

BTW-I've seen just as many California plates around my area in Beaverton, as I do Washington plates. The majority of Californians I've met are pretty decent people, and have seemed to embrace a better life here for now.
