My oldest son was named after his two grandfathers.
He was 15 when my daughter was born....so I let him name her. He picked Chloe.
When my youngest son was born 2 years later...I named him Jackson, after Jackson Montgomery on All My Children. (I told his dad is was for Stonewall Jackson.....)
They are all pretty much grown now and have done a fine job with grandchildren names.
We've decided on Theodore. We just really like how classic and versatile it is. Teddy is adorable on a little guy, Theo is handsome on a teen/college kid.. or an adult for that matter... or Ted is okay i guess, it's not so bad. Theodore is a nice name in and of itself too :-) A dear friend of ours has been tasked with picking out the middle name. So far it sounds like it'll be Stanislaus, but we'll see when the time comes! Theodore Stanislaus sounds very long and serious lol but it flows well, and we'll feel honored no matter what they choose because they chose it. Also it has sentimental meaning. If something happens and they do not choose for some reason, it'll be either Theodore Emery or Theodore Louis. Why? Just like the way it sounds I guess.
My oldest daughter was named after the late Jessica Savitch, who was one of the first female news anchors (Eyewitness News in Philly during the early 70's). My husband always had the hots for her, and liked the name. My favorite book was "The Thorn Birds", so I chose Meghan as my youngest's name. The funny thing is, my oldest is a red head (Savitch was blond), and my youngest is blond (Meggie in the Thorn Birds was a red head).
Well most of my kids names are after family . One of my children Travis is named after the travis in old yeller which i was reading at the time . But most of my kids names are from family .
I love the Sanskrit language/Hindu mythology, so I knew if I had a girl, her name would be based on that language. My firstborn's name is Kalinda Devi, which translates to "The sun resides in the heavens/sun goddess". My new daughter will be named Anjali (meaning "tribute to the Gods").
