And yet, the plural of anecdote is not data. Nessatar is citing studies of infant mortality rates and recommendations by the WHO. It's a completely different class of information, and I don't think it's fair to compare it to your personal anecdote when there is real data to back up what she says. I just think you have to own your reasons for choosing a hospital birth, and don't try to claim that your anecdote about someone having an unassisted homebirth is at all comparable to real data and statistics about midwife assisted births vs hospital births.
For the record, my daughter was born in a hospital and my next will be too, so don't think that I am just having a knee-jerk response because I disagree with your choices.
