While this had been determined many many weeks ago, once again, the Super Bowl City's (Miami) host NFL team will not participate in the big game...the streak lives on. It's kinda unprecedented, especially since so many cities have hosted the game now, more so than the usual Miami, San Diego, New Orleans, Tampa which were rotated for many years in the 80's & 90's. Even New York/New Jersey has hosted one.

Unreal how the season came down to 1/2 a yard- and no carry for Marshawn Lynch near the goal line again, thanks to an inexplicable delay of game by Seattle. NO PI called on the next play though also changes the complexion of the NFC mightily. Very quirky- the Saints may be the best team in football- but don't get a bye even. But Green Bay amazingly does. New Orleans ironically victimized again by the no PI call- and not reviewed (again, what is the point of the review system then??)- as a Seattle win would have made the Saints a 2 seed.

Rematch of that infamous divisional round game two years ago vs the Vikings, who are a dangerous team, but have been inconsistent. If New orleans wins that one, they go to Lambeau. Then probably at San Francisco. That's a steep hill to climb, even if you indeed are the best team in football.

But you did have Pasadena play host in 1979-80, near where the Rams played. Also the 49ers in 1984-85 won it in Palo Alto.

Both NFC games on Sunday for the wild card? I thought they alternated conferences so you'd have an NFC & an AFC game on Sat & Sunday.

We have a playoff version of WHEN BIRDS ATTACK I am not sure which aves to pick, the Osprey with the cool coach on a losing streak or the Eagle with the missing feathers who still find a way to win.

Yes. I thought it was odd when I saw the schedule. It's usually alternated as you stated.

I'm just happy the Packers did something with a 1st year HC, certainly didn't expect 13-3. I don't have any grand illusions about this team, has been fun. Whatever happens from here on out, all good. I thought schedule was odd, too.

I noticed that too. I think that's a first. Also note that the final divisional round game of the weekend in two weeks, is played at 6:40 at night! In other words, Sunday 2nd round has the same game times as conference championship day the following week. I hate these later Sunday starts sports leagues continue to gravitate to. But not surprised: the NFL was weighing this after the later start for the Steelers/Chiefs playoff encounter a few years back because of the weather.

It was amazing how the last play of the 100th season came down to that play on the goal line.
Football really is a smash mouth game of inches.

I live in Mass. and I am so disappointed in the play by the Patriots against Miami. Someone should have told the Pats defense to stop playing zone and go man to man. Brady is having his own problems with not enough reliable guys to throw to but the defense should have done more to secure that game. Belichick was out coached to the point it seemed that he wanted his team to lose.
Sadly I see the Pats going one and done in the playoffs this year which will be much of a relief to the rest of the country.

I think we will see the Saints V 49's in the Superbowl. Of course it would be great to see Brady against his young Padawan Garoppolo.
