I have heard this statistic. The one that says 85% of your personality and self-esteem are determined by the time you finish high school. I see it in my friends. They are just grown-up versions of what I knew in high school or college. Their responses to things, situations and crises are as predictable as when they were 18. Went to my 20-year high school reunion. No changes, except that some were a little humbled by having life kick them in the a$$.
What's your thought? Do you have any examples or opinions on this?
Me and my friends graduated 6 years ago or something like that.. we all have almost the same personality types we did when we were in high school. The thing is, most of us keep our same personality traits from when we were 5 years old. Our personality is our personality, I don't feel I've changed much from 5 or 24, I am still the same person.
My views on life and other issues have certainly changed, along with all of my friends. Everyone grows up.
I have never heard this before, but I can see where most people end up in whatever particular rut life takes them at times, and have great difficulty getting out.
Not sure self esteem situations are directly relatable, but by the time people are middle aged, they are fairly set in their ways and habits.
I have seen some exhibit great change too, but not too often.
I believe it... I think a lot of my difficulties in my personal life stem from the rejection and horrible teasing I experienced in high school. You couldn't pay me to go to a high school reunion.

I think maybe you didn't care for them much are are glad the world play KA on them?
I don't believe it to be true for all. Maybe the ones who stayed in the same friend circles, same towns, etc. But people I knew who went out and lived a varied life from where they came from....totally different.
Well, I think our personalities probably don't change that much - maybe from even an earlier age. Yes, we grow, mature, learn from our mistakes (hopefully!) - but I'm sure the parts of our personality that make us "us" have probably been in place for a long time. As for self-esteem... Well, when I was a senior in high school, I was anorexic. So I'd like to think I have a bit more self esteem than I did then!
I guess I'm the 15%, to an extent. I'm still introverted, always have been. Prefer a small gathering with friends over a big bonanza. But I definitely respond to things in a more mature manner, I'm more open-minded... idk. I think I have more self-esteem now than I did in HS.
