I realize that some tattoos are very artistic. But I just don't get anything on it being on skin. That's me though. But why are tattoos so popular now when it used to be that only carnival people and military personnel used to have them. I have seen people with tattoos right up to their necks and on their face. Don't they think ahead or what. Why do they have to add something to themselves aren't they satisfied who they are?

People think it makes them look deep and artistic, but there's no surprise that a high number of people who have tattoos are neither of those. You know what tattoos used to mean? That somebody kicked somebody's a&&. It should have stayed that way.

I can remember when tattoo shops were starving artists. Only bikers, gangs, freaks and military. Now its a permanent fashion statement.

Whatever makes them happy, I don't analyze it.

It's their bodies and they obviously they like their tattoos otherwise they wouldn't get them. They just don't have your taste. What is good or bad taste is up to each individual. It's called freedom. It is possible other people also question your psychological state because they "don't get" your choices or behavior either and must be wondering also "isn't nickerman satisfed with who he is? " "He wouldn't be questioning other people's choices if his own life was that satisfying".

The judging game is a game where everybody loses.

It's mainstream now.

And in 20 years, getting tattoos removed will be mainstream.

Honestly, if I were young, I'd seriously consider becoming either a dermatologist with a specialty in tattoo removal or a plastic surgeon with a specialty in piercing repair. I think there's going to be serious money to be made in both fields.

This ^^^

Tattooing is a scream for people to be noticed...artistic, dramatic, harsh, eye catching, or any number of 'look ate me' descriptions. It is sort of like having your underwear hanging out, or your pants down around your thighs.

Except it costs a bundle when fashion changes.

Haven't you noticed the malevolence fad that came through in the 1990's? Cars were designed with snarling faces, products were given names like "Avenger" and "Crusher" and "Eliminator"...

Would you really like to get down?
