Nah. It sounds more like some kind of crass, backhanded compliment. 101lbs at 5'3" is a pretty exceptional BMI.

I think it's off, but not necessarily condescending. I wouldn't likely comment on a woman's weight, and if I did, it would only be if I knew her fairly well, like a long-time co-worker, and she had talked openly about trying to lose weight. Otherwise I'd be concerned that she might have been ill, or still be ill. I wouldn't want to make someone feel bad about their illness or appearance in that case.

And the "tiny little thing" portion of the comment might bug me a little, now that I look again.

No. I guess you mean the "nothing of you" part? That's just a manner of speaking. Doesn't mean anything.

What do you mean by exceptional?

Default Location, location, location.

Southeastern U.S.? Consider this a compliment! In the heavyweight capital of the U.S., you're being told that you looked good before you lost weight, and now you look even better!

Blue state college campus? How could you not be offended if the comment made you feel uncomfortable?

Among the majority of us? An attempt at casual conversation, which some are more adept at than others.

I dropped from 133 to 98 ....Not by choice...but circumstance.

The rumors were as follows:
"Bet she is doing drugs or shooting up...cuz thats the only way she could have dropped so much!"
or:
"She thinks dropping weight will win her a guy? (snarky laugh)"

Those are: THE condescending and churlish remarks....

and yes OP- back handed comments come to mind when I hear what you heard....

I'm not him, but I think I get the message. He meant there was nothing about you that carried from when you were overweight to the weight you are at now.

Nope. Just stating a fact.

Not condescending but probably invalidating.

I’m tall (5’10”) & “carry” my weight well. Although I realize 10 lbs may not be noticeable to others, there have been times where that 10lbs represented a lot of work on my part & comments like that would have been annoying.
