We have friends coming down from MI for a couple of days. We're taking the boat out to the Gulf for some island hopping/snorkeling/shelling/drinking on Sunday. Anyone else taking their boats out? Lets meet up!

Anyone get out this weekend? I spend the day doing boat maintenance projects. Both livewells ended up being blow fuses. Coincidence? The didn't go at the same time, so probably not.
The large release well with the automatic timer has only worked on manual since I bought the boat but I found the timer module today and a replacement online is only 20 bucks. Better than 70 for a whole new timer. Serviced the last of the 4 batteries and filled the 2 cycle resevoir.

Tomorrow's forecast is for 6-8 foot seas and rough on the harbor. Small craft advisory too.
Looks like I'll be staying home and fishing the canal. I'm home all week so maybe I can get out before the week ends.

Just went down to the canal this morning. This is the highest tide I've ever seen, since Hurricane Gustav passed through the Gulf, Labor Day in 2008. Even though he stayed 200 miles off Florida's coast, experienced an anomoly high tide.

Current winds at Boca Grande are at 20, Venice Beach 21, Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, 18.
Winds are out of the S and SW. Must be pushing lots of water into the Harbor/Canals. Peak tide at Fishermans Village will be at 10:05 AM.

MA - I don't think I've seen any comments since you got the Key West 196. I'm looking for a house, will move next May. Was thinking of a little bigger boat, but the 196 would let me get out some places that a bigger boat wouldn't - and I assume the gas bills are now less painful. Are you comfortable outside the harbor with a couple of passengers aboard?

Yeah, the tide is really high today. Looking across the canal, my neighbors boat's props are in the water! It is very high today, a couple of the lower concrete docks in our canal are underwater.

At the beach they are calling for strong rip tides, and a lot of wind.

Because it was windy all weekend I stayed in. I got my motorcycle license last weekend, and I rented a Big Cruiser Harley through the weekend for $75.00 a day. That is a really good summertime price they are offering. So I spent the weekend out riding. I had a blast. My cousin is getting married in California the end of the month, so I am going to rent one when I'm out there for the week - since my wife won't be going - she has a bridal shower for our niece that she has to attend. - - can't wait to ride a harley in a tux! That will be more shocking than the monster tattoo I'm planning to get for my face. -- J/k about the tatoo. I'm crazy, but not that crazy.

I have a 21' Sea Hunt, center console - like his. I can fish comfortably with 3 people. If I have more it gets a little crowded. I usually like to fish with 2. I go out all the time, and run down to the pass a lot. If you have a bigger boat - it will eat a lot of gas up making that run. The more people I have the more boat captaining / fishing guide I become. I like to fish, but I also like to watch my friends catch fish.

I planned a week ago to fish at night under the 41 bridge for cobia. My brother and I started out fishing in Ponce Inlet because it was a tad rough and some storms were passing through. We got drenched during one storm. We hung in there and fished till dinner time, but it wasn't easing up, so we came in for dinner, and planned to go back out - unfortuantely the storms kept coming so we never got out.

Been there but I haven't tried fishing. A great place to also do it is in Charleston. Awesome place!
