This is the first summer we have lived in Raleigh, and phew it is HOT! Def not used to this heat. Anyway...is there anything good to do here on the 4th for a couple with no kids. We would like to see fireworks.

I've gone ahead and stickied a new "Happenings" thread for July -- hopefully there will be some fireworks listings added!

The Festival for the Eno is always fun. Festival for the Eno

The 3rd is nice in Garner. Annually, Garner and its neighbors come together to celebrate July 3rd at Lake Benson Park! Gates open at 5pm. Enjoy musical entertainment from Liquid Pleasure followed by the North Carolina Symphony, a full-time, 68 member professional orchestra, playing a rousing patriotic program. Children’s inflatable games are available from 5-8pm. Local nonprofit groups will sell food and other refreshments. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks show at 9:30pm. This celebration is FREE to the public. Shuttles will provide transportation to and from the park to ease traffic. Contact our department or visit our web site at Town of Garner - Homepage for shuttle parking sites and departure times. -No Alcoholic Beverages -No Glass Containers -No Gas or Charcoal Grills -No Fireworks (including sparklers) -No Pets

Default July 4th Fireworks in Raleigh Metro

Any suggestions where I can catch the fireworks in Raleigh area? I am in Cary-Apex border, and have some friends visiting for the weekend.

Thanks

I saw them at the fairgrounds last year and they were good. There's some festival-ish type thing going on beforehand that I didn't partake in, but I came like 2 hours before dusk with a friend, food, and a blanket. We sat and chatted til the sun went down and the fireworks started.

I went to the fireworks at Koka Booth Ampitheatre off Tryon Road in Cary last year and had a great time. Nice fireworks display and they have a free concert by the NC Symphony as well! I've been to the fairgrounds in Raleigh other years. I think the fireworks themselves may be slightly better in Raleigh, but only slightly. The symphony set Cary's show over the top for me, though.
