I don't know, I just read that in 1998 (the year they started ozone alerts, I believe) there were 35 ozone alert days in the triangle. So far this year there have only been 3.

When we moved here 18 years ago, there were no ozone days.
Now, at times, your eyes burn from the pollutants and your car windows become filthy overnight.
Not good.
The North Carolina Division of Air Quality didn't start issuing Ozone Action Day alerts until 1997. So you're right that there weren't any 18 years ago.

Anyone who has ever lived anywhere there is REAL crime thinks this a joke. Of course someone will steal from you if give them an opportunity, that would happen anywhere and doesn't make a place any less safe. Now personal and violent crimes... that's where you need to start to worry.

Cary, NC – At approximately 11:49 PM, Wednesday, October 10, 2001, a Cary Police Officer, while performing a traffic stop, was shot once in the forehead with what is believed to be a 9mm handgun. The shooting occurred in the northbound lane of US 1 & 64 at Walnut Street. The officer, George F. Almond, 29, is alive and was taken to Wake Med Hospital.
