Plus our Mayor loves courting every fast food restaurant, chain restaurant, big box store, and drug store (just not on his side of town).
You know some of us are proud Yankees, but by the same token the reason we picked Holly Springs was because it was NOTHING like the congested cities we were trying to get away from. I've only been here 5 years and the change in that short period of time has been astonishing.

Right.
And isn't congestion the alternative to sprawl? If Holly Springs can't grow geographically then what is going to happen with all the extra people that New Hill and the 540 extension bring? I love Holly Springs but I expect it to look more like Apex in a couple of years.
One of the things I love about Holly Springs downtown is all the different events, especially through the summer! There are free concerts in front of the library (great to let the kids play on the grass), comedy and theatrical shows in the center, and the festivals are great too. Most of the festivals are held at Womble Park, which is about 3 blocks north of downtown (nice park). I also like that Holly Springs has a lot less traffic than Apex! Lived there for a few years, and LOVED being able to walk to the grocery store, library, downtown, elementary school.
20 years ago, Holly Springs was pretty much nothing. It wasn't even 1000 people. Frankly, most of what is considered Holly Springs today was just woods 20 years ago. I used to cycle through there with my friends on Weekend routes from Cary. I remember it being a poor community of rundown houses and very little else. There certainly wasn't any sort of significant DT to redevelop and/or save. It's all going to have to be built from the ground up.

Or even worse...Cary.
