Do you mean Mawa's Taste of Africa? If so, I'm sorry to report that it's closed.

I've been in some other restaurants lately that let you bring your own alcohol, so I don't think it's all that rare at least with smaller non-chain places. I assume there's a reason why they don't get liquor licenses - too costly, or too many rules?

Feel free to send me a DM. I would love to learn where these BYOB places are. I don't go to chains and none of the Indy places I go are BYOB so it is rare in my world! I don't know why some places don't get the license here. Probably more about rules than cost as I think the cost is minimal here vs other places where the number of licenses are fixed and the are extremely expensive.

I'll try to remember to post here if I remember (or attend) any BYOB places. I know for sure Bosphorus does, as previously mentioned. I tend to go to off the beaten track ethnic places as they usually offer the best vegan options. :-)
