Imagine if some kudzu were to sprout up right on your side of the fence around where the ladder is, it would help secure the ladder to the fence to make sure nobody steals their precious prize, and it would very quickly disappear from your view

Not saying this would necessarily be a good thing since you'd have to control the kudzu coming your way too, long term. Just saying imagine if...

You are funny. There is a poster on this site whose username is "No Kudzu" and I never knew what it meant. Now, I have the urge to ask her if it's related (since I had to look up a photo of what kudzu is ;-)

I have a firepit and enjoy sitting outside now that the weather is warming up a bit. That ladder just ruins the experience. It would be different if they weren't so nasty/hateful about it, but they are. Ugh. It must be awful to go through life so self-absorbed.

Thanks for the laugh!

Have you been able to find the corner markers for your property yet? Would it not be funny if the fence was either ON the property line, or not enough on the neighbors side to accommodate the space the ladder occupies?

By now I would bet 90% of neighbors would have removed the ladder. You do have patience!

There are some ways to control it (obviously since the DOT does, otherwise it would have overtaken our highways many decades ago), but most homeowners try to spray roundup or similar on it which tends to just make it angry. The most "green" way to control it is by putting one or more goats in the area to be controlled.

So you could put something like this friendly animal near your neighbors fence, so that he spits and yells at them every time they come near the ladder:

OMG! A screaming monkey! I love it!

Did you ever watch "Monk" when it was on the USA Network? There was an episode about a rambuctious monkey in his apartment. It was funny.

You all are FABULOUS for me to be able to laugh this nonsense off.

Ugh. In my defense, I am NOT from NC. I moved here four years ago and injured my knee in the move so MOST of my time here has involved surgeries, complications, hospitals and such. Learning the horticulture hasn't been a definite need while trying to survive.

Admittedly, it IS beautiful here and I have never seen an area with NO litter on the highways.

I haven't found my survey yet. I've been back in the hospital a few times and the ER several times since posting so this hasn't been at the top of the list. It's more annoying now because the weather is breaking and I'd like to sit on the deck since I can't really get out and about these days. That ladder (and their nasty attitudes) just make that a less than tranquil experience.

I'm not really patient, per se. I'm just allergic to crazy people. ;-)
