Yeah the supplier wants an additional $50 for a soft-close seat. I'm buying three of them so I'd at least expect the same price as HD.

I think HD's price for a round-front seat is $45 or an elongated seat for $63.

Make sure you get the special non-stick glaze on it. Wilkinson told me that they don't sell Totos without it, but who knows with Home Depot.

I have 3 of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Do not get the cheap plastic ones. You cannot sit on the top cover. it's too weak. We tried one in the kid's bathroom and it was not very good. The one above is very sturdy, unhinges in seconds for cleaning, and was only $34.

Thanks for the tip. Is wood more desirable than plastic? I don't know that I've ever had a wood toilet seat.

The plastic lids are very flexible, both the seat and the lid. The wood ones don't feel or look like wood but they are more sturdy and more comfortable. Overall more durable.

Funny I just checked one of mine and I do think it's wood. Go figure.

We did all 3 toilets recently. Hub replaced builder specials with $120 American Standard toilets. Got them at Lowes. They were fairly easy to install, comfort height, look very nice and work well. That's all I ask of my toilets.

we have renovated houses in NJ and NC. Contractors in both areas said that toilets are the same whether purchased at plumbers supply or big boxes. Other plumbing items such as faucets and pipes are often made with cheaper plastic parts to be sold at box store for cheaper prices.... In NJ, I was buying 4 toilets so got a price off of internet then went to local supplier and they matched it... It's worth a try!

ProFlo is a good flushing toilet. We have one at the beach...1.28 gal flush. I believe it came from Home Depot.

My plumber told me that Toto uses glazing in the trap. It makes for a better flush.
