I drove through there this morning about 8:30a. There was an insane amount of water flowing across and I saw huge sections of pavement that had lifted up. I'm guessing that section of road is in seriously rough shape as a result.
Anyone else drive by later in the day? I usually commute that way home, so I'm fairly certain it would be best to completely avoid it tonight. Hoping that perhaps the damage isn't as bad as I am expecting, but that might be wishful thinking.
Didn't that happen in that exact same location a year/so ago?
If it did, I wasn't driving through there that morning!
I got a little nervous once I was in it. I could feel pavement crumbling under my tires. Then I saw a huge slab of pavement lifted up out of the water. I was thinking I was about to get stuck, but thankfully I had no issues.
Waldo Rood and Cary Pkwy. is still closed- detour is MacArthur. Tried to use the back road behind Fresh Market (Towne Village) to get home but that is closed as well once you get to Waldo Rood.
I drove on it at 6:45 this morning, and noticed water running across Waldo Rood, near the new ABC construction. At the time, it was only a thin sheet of water, less than an inch deep, and didn't look bad. The only reason it registered is that I have bald tires (appointment at 4 today to replace), so crossing any water gets my attention.

I was sure I saw salmon jumping the median....
I drove through 6"--8" of water, and it was flowing right down Bebington. I bet it overwhelmed the storm sewers there....
Didn't that happen in that exact same location a year/so ago?
IIRC, it was a bit further down from there (but pretty close) and at least 5 years ago.
