There's not much to discuss. The forecast shows it staying out of our area. Hopefully it stays that way.

This is an all snow event right? No ice in the forecast at all - so driving in this should be a piece of cake compared to previous storms.

I think the storm will move more west and more snow.
Should be? One can only hope. Will be? Don't bet your hard-earned dollars on that one.

That's assuming we actually get snow, which doesn't look likely.

These storms tend to bust in the positive to the west. So hopefully someone will be surprised on the western side. The cutoff is going to be steep though between the haves and have-nots.

ABC11 is calling for <1" with the western part of the county possibly not getting anything. WRAL has the entire county in the 1-2" range. So we'll probably get a foot.

I predict < 1/2" of snow.

I also predict that some people will complain it was too much snow and others will complain it wasn't enough. They'll also gripe about the limitations of forecasting weather and attribute any deviation to greed and incompetence.

How'd I do?

I would love for a storm to drop a few inches of snow in Durham. However, when looking at the forecast and models, I would be lucky enough to see even some token flakes.

Guess I'm going to have to wait until next year for a good snow.

Oh, that's the best when that happens. Schools will be closed for days even though some people never see a flake of snow.

My parents came down to visit on their way to Florida. They were supposed to leave early in the morning but depending on what happens and what the road reports look like, they might hang around another day.

We were planning on going out to dinner tonight but we'll have to make sure it's safe. Do restaurants usually close if there's going to be bad weather in the middle of the week?

Some do, so it's best to call ahead and make sure they're open and plan to stay open.

It would've been nice to warn people so they could dress accordingly.

Well, it's winter. Kids should be dressed to handle outdoor temps so in the event of cold indoors they should be set. Cold classroom sucks, but everyone should have had warm clothes anyway.

Of course, you're looking at it from the perspective of someone who can afford a closet full of warm clothes. A lot of kids in the school system can't.
