Not true, because my in laws live in Concord a straight drive into charlotte to UNCC, I'm in Charlotte a lot because of this, and right before you get to the charlotte line, you pass the publix, lowes, and harris teeter in harrisburg literally maybe less than 5 miles from UNCC and the university area.

The Lowes Foods in Mebane was renovated last year and they added a bar and smokehouse. I know it's on the western fringe, but I thought you might want to know in case you're driving through and get a craving.

I grew up with Wegmans.

When it opens in Raleigh, I will finally happily go grocery shopping. I've managed to pretty much avoid it for about 25 years.

Saw bricks now on buildings when driving by it today, and what looked like a little town square setup of stores with walking areas at the front of what will be the supermarket. Looks like it will be quite a nice place and one I hope will compliment the nearby TJs.

I can only imagine how bad the Six Forks / Wake Forest Road traffic is going to be like.

Here is an article in the latest BusinessWeek on them. It notes they are opening 5 stores in NC, their 7th state.

After looking at the map in the article, which is great by the way, I'm wondering why they haven't entered the Pittsburgh market yet.

I'm sure there must be some prime locations, with the right demographics, in the 'burgh or the wealthy suburbs that could support a Wegmans or two?

I did a drive-by on the Wegmans and it's getting close. Large surface parking lot and equally big covered lot underneath. Looks like there will also be a Cava up front in the small plaza.
