Peking Garden in Raleigh used to be our go to ”Chinese” restaurant. But not as good now that Cody sold business. YiGe in Clayton received a high rating from Greg Cox but currently service is spotty. Some of wait staff is not experienced as like many restaurants the are have trouble currently hiring. We recently were served entree prior to our soup. LOL. But the food is good. Yi Ge

^Peking Garden is not that authentic, although they carry the name PeKing. Cody is Taiwanese.

Try Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro. I haven't been in years, but they do have an authentic rep and when I went they had dishes like stinky tofu and 1000 year eggs and lotus roots. I love lotus roots.

Lately I'm really into Happy China in Durham (I think for a while it wasn't great and stopped going, but is now back to greatness) - also like Red Lotus's Shanghai menu.

For Americanized Chinese I absolutely love Peony Asian Bistro.

Lots of new ones to try, too!

I saw lotus root on the online photos of Good Harvest Hot Pot in Cary.

Grand Mansion Hot Pot is pretty authentic Sichuan style. Could be really spicy.
Grand Asia Market had lunch box cafe and dim sum to-go. Used to go there for yrs. Closed due to COVID tho.

Happy to hear this about Happy China. Went there with friends on Christmas a few years ago and enjoyed it a lot, but service was iffy and later Yelp reviews were scathing. I'm glad to hear they're getting their act together.

Yeah, it's kind of been all over the place! Was really impressed with it the last few times.

I liked Banana Leaf in Cary. They have a lot of traditional Cantonese items on their menu.
