I think if you're not in China, it isn't Chinese food. Everything here is too Americanized.

There are some traditional meals to be had. China is an enormous country, and I imagine some of the cuisine is regional. But the traditional menu at Nice Bowls is definitely not geared toward Americans. For example: )

Did you really just tell us that China is a big country?

I would like some beef and bitter melon. My husband makes it for me sometimes. I used to get it in California.

My point is that even people from China might say a restaurant’s food isn’t “right” because it’s from a different region. I’m married to an immigrant who never likes restaurant food from his country (traditional items) because of regional variations.

There is also cost factor,down here they use tilapia or cat fish as it is cheaper ,you dont see scallops on most menu.

Is bitter cucumber the same as bitter melon? It does look like a cucumber.

Edit no dine in. Probably won't go for takeout from NW Raleigh. Will try it when patio is open again.

According to my google it is the same thing. It may also be called bitter gourd.
