Yeah, Fidelity cited the ability to expand the Nortel campus on New Millennium when purchasing that site. I'm guessing that the NC4/NC5 buildings were planned for the surface lots south of the existing building.
Fidelity had previously purchased the now-Apple site for a new-construction campus.
You can easily see where one more building would go and with all the surface lot, adding another parking deck frees up enough land to probably double the campus in size, if they ever choose to do so.
worked there and it's about 90% H1B people. I expect that trend to continue.
That's not true, and actually sort of reeks of xenophobia. Every company heavily dependent on technology skills is going to need to leverage resources from around the world, because demand exceeds skill inventory. And you shouldn't expect that trend to continue, companies like Fidelity have talent development programs where they recruit people and train them into the skillsets that are needed with a growing rate of success.

I see you moved here from NYC.
Stop attacking people because they think about things differently from you.

What?! NYC2RDU wasn't attacking anyone, just explaining the circumstances of using H1B workers and how the situation is likely to change. Made perfect sense to me and not offended at all, unlike your "I see you moved here from NYC" comment. That quote to me reeks of xenophobia much more than what NYC2RDU said.
Getting back to the announcement, the company says it's looking for people with strong customer service skills, including hospitality workers who might have lost their jobs during the pandemic, which I think would be a great addition to the area. We're not all techies nor should we be so to live in this area.
I also like the statement in this article that it’s working with North Carolina Central University, Durham Technical Community College and Wake Technical Community College to expose students to financial literacy coursework that will help in filling the jobs. That's good to hear as well. Let's hope Fidelity will do even more for the area in these regards and keep the fuel going in the powerhouse engine that's RTP.
