I dunno. The USGS rain gauge at only recorded 1.03 inches for the last 7 days at Penny/Kildaire. At Trailwood and 40 (near Farmer's Market) they got 2 inches. Rock Quarry/40, they got 1.7 inches.

So, if the question was "can your random summer thunderstorm drop what seems like massive amounts of rain in random locations in Wake County in a 2-hour span?" .... Absolutely.

For the newcomers, we are now in what I have coined "The Season of 90's" .... temps in the 90's (or more), humidity in the 90% range and a 90% chance anyday of a gully-washer thunderstorm any afternoon anywhere.

we have rains that overwhelm the city storm drains once or twice a year on my street. That hasn't happened yet in 2021
