Yes. I was at DBAP for the Bulls game this week already. No mask, no intention of wearing one. I got the vaccine like a good little soldier, I’m now going to live my life. I’m not attending anything where masks are required, other than flying (and even that sparingly).

Perhaps you were exaggerating to make a point, and if so I get the point. But it's not that black and white for people (myself included) who have a specific, legitimate medical reason to be more cautious than the average Joe or Jane. I'm not referring to people in the most extreme circumstance, like folks who are immuno-suppressed because they're undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. I mean the diabetics, the over 75s, the folks with kidney or lung disease, sickle cell anemia, etc.. the "in between" people who have a higher risk per the CDC but are not within six feet of the grave under normal circumstances. For us it's about calculated risk while we continue to live our lives as fully as is prudent.

There's a big difference between eradication and a reduction in the 14-day Wake County case rate per 100,000 to a figure like 50 instead of today's 340 (just a week ago today, it was only 168). At 50, I'm willing to be back in the mainstream with no mask of my own and no expectation that the people around me wear masks. At 500, nope... unless I'm wearing a real N95. I agree with "over 99%" in terms of the vaccine's protection against serious illness, but there's a big difference between 99.2% and 99.95%. There really aren't enough hard data yet about serious illness arising specifically from the delta variant to know whether today's risk of serious illness from delta is closer to 99.2% or 99.95%. Much of the data being tossed around comes from the weeks prior to delta's becoming dominant, and the data so far about serious illness arising from delta is subject to small sample size error. Wait another two months and the data will be more accurate. I will reassess then, but in the meantime I think it's prudent for the in-betweeners to limit exposure.

Yes I know they are open because restrictions were lifted, but still, they could do something to be safe.

DPAC safety commitment

From the FAQ:
I would go if there is something interesting. I’m going to the Panthers fan fest and another show after that this weekend so I’m not deterred by large crowds obviously. I’m vaccinated and wearing KN95 masks so I think my own risk is minimal.

My partner does have a medical reason to be careful that I don't have. We go out to eat but DPAC is a different thing. We are both worried about Delta.

I thought eating indoors was one of the riskiest choices, due to masks off.

If there are not many people we are fine. We are both vaccinated. How many people at DPAC?

I feel the same. The only reason I'm wearing a mask right now is my son has to have a negative Covid test to get back on campus at State. I don't want to unknowingly catch it and give it to him. Otherwise, not happening.

I personally don't care either way, I don't feel wearing a mask is really any difficulty for me - if wearing a mask is what it takes for me to resume a semblance of normalcy in terms of regular activities, so be it. I'm not going to let that dictate what places I avoid or go to because a lack of or enforcement of a mask mandate.

Masks are the difference to me.

I worked in school buildings with hundreds of people, but 100% masking. I avoided indoor dining because I thought it was significantly riskier.

I’m vaccinated, too.

I would go if it was something that interested me. DPAC is small. I can’t imagine it even being worth opening if spacing between seats.

I’ve also flown a few times without issue taking reasonable precautions.
