Ottawa took the stomach kick tonight, to the tune of 7-2.
Orlov is hitting his stride at a good time.

RBA is the only astive head coach to do to the playoffs each of his first 6 years.

Good story on the team's evolution:

Flyers on the verge of stumbling out of the playoffs and the Caps on the verge of stumbling in...
Looks like this will go down to the wire like in 2023.

Crazy. A month or so ago, Canes vs Flyers was a pretty solid pick for a first round matchup in the playoffs. Obviously there was a lot of hockey to be played but with only 19 points in their last 22 games, they are very well playing themselves out of a spot at all. Right now they're clinging to the spot, but with more games played than anyone else in the NHL. Washington is just 1 point below them with 3 fewer games and Detroit is 1 point behind them on the outside of the bubble... but with 1 less game under their belt. Even the Islanders are 4 points behind with 2 fewer games.

As for the Canes, with 7 games left, we are 3 points behind the Rangers for the lead in the Metropolitan. Will be tough to overtake, but not impossible. IMO, the Caps are a good bet to the be the first round opponent but there's still a good amount of hockey to be played with the Flyers and Wings likely battling it out for a Wild Card while again, the Islanders can theoretically get hot and play their way ahead of one of those two as well.

Seems no one wants the 2nd wild card spot or 3rd in the Metro.

Canes are locked into 2nd in the Metro and at least 4th in the East.

Watching the 4 teams vying for third in the Metro and 6 teams involved in the Eastern 2nd wild card race is going to be fun, and likely right down to the wire.
