Two of the council members have made videos stating they were not consulted about stopping the parade. The rest of them most likely weren't told, either. I know it was not mentioned at last week's council meetings. The mayor said it was the decision of city staff, so she blamed them and also said it was to "honor" the little girl, which, of course wasn't true.

The new city attorney may have advised other staff not to approve the permit. But who knows when you have a city leader who you can't trust. I'm glad they're having at least a "motor-vehicle-less" parade.

The city doesn't actually do the parade, that's the Raleigh merchants. This is just about issuing the permit. Honestly, they'd probably end up in court and ordered to issue the permit if they hadn't reversed course.
