I don't think either commute is a pleasant one, having friends that live in both towns.

And HSP is starting to become pricey. A decent built home in a nicer neighborhood can't be bought for less than $300k. It is amazing how it has changed over the past 10 years since I have lived here in NC.

Ditto. Both seem to be very congested at peak times..but then that is pretty much everywhere down here now!

The choice b/w living in either town is purely subjective. Surely after a few visits, you will get a feel about one over the other.

I commute from Fuquay-Varina through Holly Springs to RTP. It can be nasty, but name one 20-mile commute to RTP that isn't nasty during peak times?

Key is to commute off-peak, which is what I do. My 35 minute commute to work, offpeak, becomes 50 minutes during peak.

I've been around both towns and really I think it will boil down to what your particular tastes are. Holly Springs seems more still a work in progress to me than Wake Forest. Wake Forest starting booming before Holly springs did, so they have more in the way of ammenities such as Super Target, Lowes, soon to be a Kohl's etc... Holly springs meanwhile has a while to go in that respect but for those that enjoy a bit slower pace then that area may be for them. Although much of Wake Forest is still very country and rural in setting I say drive around both and then base your final opinion.

If I had to pick I would say Wake Forest, it just seems to have a more balanced plate as it were.

Thank you for all your Help, I with not hesitation WakeForest is my better Choice. I think HollySprings is nice but still lack a couple of things that I am looking for in a town. I am still unhappy that I would have to pay more for the type of House I want. I really like both town but HollySpring is to country for my tasted, still a nice town. To does that Live in WakeForest see you soon.

HA! No, we did not want to live in Cary! All the reators told us, oh, you'll end up in Cary, don't even look anywhere else. They knew we had our CA equity money from our house there, and they were looking to spend it. I took one drive around Cary and knew that absolutely was not what we wanted...too cookie cutter, and the lots were too small. We wanted a .5 acre lot. Thats just us...after living in the OC in S. Cal, I wanted nothing to do with a "master planned" community...whole towns are like that there...like one town sized subdivision. We do live in a SD, but it feels like a neighborhood, not a stamped out mass produced ready made town. I know some people like that, just not what we wanted. We looked at houses in Cary and HS, and CHOSE HS.

NCitgal ... I can see you point; you wanted something more country and you can definitely get that in HollySpring. I couldn’t agree more. Cary is a lot cookie cutter and WakeForest is some what like that too. Not as much as Cary but also cookie cutter. I like that though!! Coming from BergencountyNJ is hard to adjust to country side such as HollySpring and that is why I decided to move to WakeForest. HollySprings is a nice town but is definitely not for me right now. However I could not agree with you more, if you are looking for something semi-country small town HollySprings will be a perfect choice.
I want to keep something clear for all of those that advice Holly Spring, HS is a nice town, just a bit country for my taste. Also they need to do something in
HollySpring with the amount of abandon looking trailer homes; it takes beauty out of such a nice town.

I strongly encourage you to rent for your first year here while you explore areas of the Triangle. There are various parts to both Wake Forest and Holly Springs. While feedback from forum members is helpful, I would never base an important decision like buying a house on that input alone. It is amazing how much more you learn about an area once you spend some acutal time on the ground there.

Good luck no matter what you decided or where you go!

Default Holly Springs is the place to be

If I have to choose, no doubt Holly Springs. It is beautiful, peaceful, family oriented, I love it!. The new 540 is coming by and it is going to put this town as one of the best places to live (already has made that list as one of the best places to live and work in USA). There is a lot of technology industry coming such as Novartis that is currently under construction. Also a new shopping center with Target as the main shop, movie theather, hotel, restaurants....you name it . That is going to be right off 55 and Main St. Also there is plans for a hospital. There is so many new home communities coming up, so many home choices for you.

It is a great place to be. Promise you will not be disappointed!
