Hello People of North Carolina,

I currently live in Atlanta, and would like to start a new business in North Carolina. Forbes, and Entrepreneur magazine have stated that the raleigh-Durham area is a great place to start. I made the decision of not staying in Atlanta because of how saturated Atlanta has become and the cost of renting commercial property has sky rocketed. I've been doing research on my part on which area of the Carolinas would be best for the business. I have to great business Ideas both in the restaurant industry. One is a breakfast, brunch, and lunch joint..small and homey. and the other is a pizza lounge..also small and entertaining. I'm open to constructive criticism as this will definitely help in my decision making. Thank You all!

Oh my gosh, when we first moved here the first thing my husband and I noticed is how we couldnt find any "mom and pop" type places to go for breakfast. Might be a good investment in this area..........

There really are limited breakfast restaurant options here in the Triangle. I am a realtor, and I help place my clients, sometimes along with their business to the area. From experience at relocating a business, you (or your agent) should look at the area's demographics. There are many sites online. We use Claritas. The problem is that the areas are growing so fast that you also need to visit and see what is not on your reports. Also make sure you understand all your tax advantages 1031 exchanges etc.. You will want to defer capital gains on any profits made in your existing business in Atlanta, wether it is a related or unrelated business. I would suggest the Morrisville area or Brier Creek area for a breakfast place.( Near RTP ) Dems are great and the lunch crowd at Brier Creek begins very early and is very consistent. Commercial listings for lease or purchase are very hard to find- try Loop Net- trial offer will give you some listings. Most are seen by driving around. You may want to visit. If you need someone to help you research-pm me for a relocation kit. Good luck, this area is so promising for new specialty food restaurants.
