My understanding is there will be sufficient distance between HF and 540. 540 will be closer to highcroft. 540 will also be below Green Hope School Road, so sight and noise should be minimal. Pretty good quality also. Worth a look IMO

Default Hilliard Forest and 540

Hilliard Forest circled in red.
540 corridor roughly highlighted in yellow.

Isn't that close? As I stated earlier, it's anywhere from 600-1200 ft.

Noise travels up. The road noise will bounce (multiply) on the sides (walls) of the road & will be more if it is below the road surface 'cause it will form a tunnel "U".

I'm not an expert. But is sounds logical.

Thanks Mike for the map. It looks pretty close. There has been a lot of confusion as I've heard both that there is enough of a buffer, and others saying you will still be able to hear it. At least we have a map now.

My son and DIL just bought a home in Woodcreek and cannot believe the quality of the home. Although my DIL has a bit of a commute to RTP now, most days she says it's about 25 minutes, when 540 is finished, it will be a breeze as the entrance to 540 is going to be right up the road, about two miles away. Their lot is just over 1/3 of an acre. In comparing what they could have bought in Cary to what they bought in HS, the same property would have cost at least $100k more in Cary. I believe that for any family that is looking to settle down for awhile, HS is the way to go to save money. This area is growing so quickly with almost anything you need within 15 minutes and new stores arriving regularly.

I think for many people who travels a lot & prefer excellent, already established schools, HS is not an option even after 540.

I can't speak of the school system personally since my youngest is at UNC and my grandchildren are too young to attend. However, I'm not sure what traveling a lot would have to do with HS and what do you consider a lot? I fly out of RDU every 2 mos or so on business and certainly find the drive quick enough. Or were you referring to something else?

I'm not sure exactly. Maybe a combination that some people along the way told me that and we felt God led us here. So many things had fallen into place coming here and we sold our house just shy of 2 weeks. So probably I just wasn't being realistic. Lots to learn.
