Common, people in my area pay close to 1m for 3-4k sq ft homes on 2 acres and tear them down and build 7k sq ft. These homes where all built in md 80s so they aren't even that old.

There's no doubt that many very wealthy women are there because of marriage, divorce or death. It's a patriarchal world. But to insinuate, as you've now done TWICE, that it could be the only reason she's got money... welcome to 1950!
She couldn't possibly have earned it in her 20+ year acting career, or her other business ventures. She's a woman, so you assume she got her money from a man. Brilliant.
Well, he/she isn't entirely off the mark. When she and Affleck were married, they had a marital home, and when they divorced, she got the house, then sold the house for 32 million.
While she's giving up size and land, compared to her former home, she'll be living in very very tony Brentwood.

Uh, what? If you have enough money to pay 7.8 million dollars for a home and then tear it down to build something presumably a lot bigger and/or better... then yeah, you're probably pretty rich. Her net worth is likely somewhere in the $80-$100m range. That qualifies as rich in my book.
