Without that urge, we'd have very little interest in sex, I think. Of coures, many health and genetic factors play into both libido and ability, and some people have almost no desire, and others range into the realm of the constantly horny. The psychology is where it gets really complex and interesting, from my perspective. Family upbringing, religious indoctrination, social programming, influence of peers and media, early and subsequent experiences that condition your individual reaction, etc. - fascinating stuff and very difficult to untangle when and if there is an issue.

However, beyond the biological, most women enjoy sex if their libido is active or can be stimulated. There are distinct gender differences in motivation to have sex, though, but that goes back to biology and evolution.

Personally, I feel that sex is the best way to bond a couple together and helps keep them together. Later circumstances can change, but if the bond is strong enough, love will carry them through even sexless periods. If the deep bonding isn't there to begin with, problems in the relationship are almost inevitable. That was the case with my first marriage, as she had a very low libido that only manifested after she'd "caught" me and said "I do" - then she mostly said "I don't". This time around, knowing how important sex is to me, I found someone who was also compatible sexually, who has a strong and persistent libido. She has sex because of her libido, and because it's fun and satisfying on many levels. Psychologically she's got a very positive attitude towards sex, and whatever negative experiences or relationships she's had in the past haven't caused any ongoing psychological issues.

I didn't intend to write a treatise here, so I apologize for that, but I think I'll let these thoughts and personal experiences stand as they are.
Agree with this - I honestly believe that, by nature, there is very little difference between males and females in terms of desire and enjoyment of sex. I base this on observation of male/female animals - for instance, our dogs, who are all neutered/spayed by the way, are equally interested in sex - the female dog is constantly approaching her "boyfriend" engaging in all sorts of behaviors including "humping", oral activity, presenting, etc. The male dog does his thing with her about equally. However, in humans, the psychological issues have a major impact, and I think in general, more females are conditioned against sex than males (our society for so many years has instilled this) Thus the differences we observe - it's not innate - it's conditioned.

Surprise fellas!!! Alot of women have sex because THEY LIKE IT!! I have sex because I am a very sexual person. I crave it and it's a wonderful release for me....physically and emotionally. I can't imagine being in a relationship where it doesn't exist.

Instead of bashing "marriage" why not look at the PERSON YOU married. It's not the entity itself not giving it up....it's your spouse. Blaming it on marriage is a copout response versus dealing with your issues.

How many abortions are there every year? You think those women were trying to get pregnant?

I hope this is a joke. If not then go back to school.
Today some teenage girls are as wild as the boys.. perhaps even more and it has nothing to do with being pregnant. They do it because they want to. Having sex is a choice (not an accident) just like coming to work on time.

Amen!

I had about zero interest in sex while I was married. But that had more to do with the relationship and sheer exhaustion from doing most of the housework and paying nearly all of the bills while he futzed around with part-time jobs and sat on his butt playing video games. If some women say "I don't" after the vows, rest assured there are some men who also say "I don't" after the vows, as in, "I don't feel like working" and "I don't feel like cleaning up after myself." Nothing, but nothing, will kill my sex drive like resentment.

Now? Long story short, I'm proof that it's not only biology. Zero hormones here, and yet, YAY. But that's because my current relationship is good. Ummm, and so is my partner.

I see some of the usual suspects came out to play today.

Sexual pleasure ftw. However, to be more thorough Id have to say women sometimes do it for other reasons. Like..

Doing it when they aren't in the mood for the sake of satisfying their boyfriend/husband.

Doing it to before their "ready" out of fear their new boyfriend might leave if they don't.

Doing it for money (porn stars/sex workers.)

Doing it to keep a roof over their heads, should times get really tough.

Doing it to win a game show (seriously have you seen Japanese TV.)

Doing it to get help in persuading the Spartan council to send reinforcements to Leonidas...
