i actually hate parties. i prefer get togethers with a few people where we can just talk, maybe have something to eat. if i am forced, i will go but i just sit on th sidelines.
life of the party always. And I don't drink. Even if I don't know anyone, I'll go up to someone who appears remotely friendly and initiate a conversation... people generally love talking about themselves. That said, I won't try to penetrate a group of people who obviously know each other well and don't need a 5th or 7th person.
I love sports, so when all else fails, I'll go and yell at the television with the guys.

I think I would roam the room and find the people who were laughing the most. If I got bored, I'd people-watch. I'd be the one drinking the Shirley Temple or the Pellegrino water.
I would rather jump off a bridge than go to a party. I'm ok with small gatherings where I know people, but otherwise I prefer to forgo the meaningless chit chat of parties.
I was much more sociable when I was younger, age has made me more introspective and antisocial.

I agree, the other day two friends and I got together and we drank, smoked and had a nice dinner. It was great, much better than a huge party. But I can still enjoy a party.
Of course, my behavior at a party also depends on how I'm feeling when I get there. If I'm feeling like crap, then I'll probably be more of a wallflower and drink with the intent of numbing myself. If I'm feeling good then I'll be more sociable and drink enough to get myself talking to people.
Im in between
Depending on my mood & if I know a few people then I will roam around
I always look around the room and check to see that no one is standing by themselves or looking awkward, then I have a tendency to try to bring them into the conversation.... if they're hard to talk to then I exit, stage left.
Do you go to many parties? Are you usually the "life of the party" or a "shy wallflower" or something in between?....Do you try to get around to talk to everyone or just sit on the sidelines and talk to a few people that you know the best?....I don't go to many parties. Most of the time I just hang-out with people I already know or people I seem to have something in common with and sit on the sidelines. I take everything "in" and enjoy watching all of the interaction around me. How about you? Thanks....
I'm a social guy, more so when I have been drinking. I tend to become a social butterfly. I'll talk to anyone, or at least say hello. If I walk into a party and don't recognize anyone, I'll still talk to people. I can enter a party knowing 2 or 3 people and leave 'knowing' 20.
The whole point of a party is to let your hair down and get loose whether you drink or not. What's the point of even going if you are just going to sit there by yourself or only talk to the few people you know?
