..
That is the thing with herpes, there are no symptoms when there isn't an active outbreak. So you won't be able to tell if someone has it. A lot of STDs show only mild if any symptoms at all. Thus, there are people infecting others without realizing that they themselves are infected.

Condoms are a way to easily reduce this risk significantly. If you choose not to use condoms then that is up to you. However, don't act surprised if one day you go to pee and it burns or there's a green discharge down there.
I'm on the horizon of 36. I have navigated the sexual waters quite well so far despite some foolish risks when I was in the military. I don't "hit" everything that crosses my path but I'm also not going to be a Priest and abstain. I just think it's a big ridiculous to carpet bomb every thread w/ STD warnings the second the word "Sex" *incoming* is mentioned.

Back to STD's, it seems the STD problem is a bigger issue with teens. I can't confirm that, but I just remember a study or something claiming teens made up a very large portion of the STD population.
The people in the bible were not even real to begin with. Never found one grave, manuscript, or archaeological ruins of any kind.

Think about it, we have cro magnon fossils, but not one biblical character has been unearthed.

Yup, it's called asymptomatic. And it seems to me a lot of guys are asymptomatic or get very mild outbreaks apposed to women.

This has nothing to do with morals or religion. Have as much sex as you want to, just be safe. This thread is specifically about STDs and well, sex.

I was actually looking some stuff up online and most clinics state that they do not even test for herpes.

They just do the typical HIV, syphilis, chlamydia & gonorrhea.

It said they can treat herpes, but they do not test for it unless there are visible symptoms of an outbreak.

Crazy...! And what kind of half-assed sh** is that!??!

That would explain why there are so many people unknowingly carrying it!

These threads are soooo amazingly stupid that I decided to spend some time on this post.

http://www.azdhs.gov/phs/hiv/pdf/200...ve_summary.pdf

Based on current prevalence estimates, at least 1 of every 525 persons in Arizona is reported with HIV infection, up from 1 of every 547 persons in
2005 - that's 0.19%.

OK, let's start with 525.

Prevalence of HIV and AIDS in Arizona are disproportionately distributed, occurring predominantly among persons who engage in high*risk sexual activity, most significantly among men who have sex with men (MSM), and injection drug users (IDU).

The predominant behavior associated with emergent HIV infection in Arizona continues to be men who have sex with men (MSM), which was reported in 65.9% of emergent HIV infections in 2004.

346 of the 525 are gay. That leaves us with 179 heterosexuals.

Injection drug use (IDU) is the second most frequently reported behavior associated with emergent HIV infection. In 2004, IDU behavior was associated with 19.4% of emergent HIV infection.

Out of the 179 heterosexuals, 35 are junkies. That leaves us with 144 heterosexual non-junkies.

High Risk Heterosexual (HRH) is only considered the mode of HIV infection when MSM or IDU is not reported. HRH was associated with emergent HIV infection in 5% of cases in the early 1990’s. In 2004, HRH was associated with 16.1% of emergent HIV infection reports.

Of the 144 heterosexual non-junkies, 23 engage in high-risk behavior. That leaves us with 121 heterosexuals, non-junkies, not engaging in high-risk behavior.

The most current data suggest that HIV prevalence in the state’s prison system may be substantially higher than reported. Reported rates of HIV infection among prisoners are known to be over 4 times the state average. Prisoners are 0.56% of the state population, but account for 2.4% of reported HIV/AIDS prevalence, and 6.1% of 5*year HIV/AIDS emergence for Arizona.

Of the 121 above (not sure if I'll compare apples to apples here, but let's take the more conservative 2.4%), 3 are prisoners. We're down to 118.

Two percent of reported prevalence is among persons who have no known current address. These are persons who are lost to follow*up due to being chronically homeless, out of state, or whose status may be unreported deceased.

Of the 118, 2.4 are homeless. Down to 115.6.

Throughout the epidemic in Arizona, the majority of emergent HIV infections have been among males, who comprise 88% (13,626/15,480) of all confirmed Arizona emergent HIV infections.

Of the 115.6, 102 are males.

Trends of emergent HIV infection among all racial ethnic groups in Arizona are reflective of broader population trends with the clear exception of Non*Hispanic Blacks. Non*Hispanic Blacks were just 3.4% of Arizona’s population in 2004, but accounted for 9.6% of emergent HIV infection.

Of the 102, 93 are white males.

Sooooo, I'm sure I'll have sex exactly with these 93 normal white males (out of 525) who are a whopping 16% of the total enormous 0.19% of the population in AZ infected with HIV ! I rest my case.

As far as men getting HIV from women, the situation is even funnier!

Well, 1 in 5 people have genital herpes and nope, there is no cure as of yet.
