How feminism destroyed real men | Mail Online

Quote:
Women thought the last victory of equality was to make men more 'sensitive'. The bitter irony, says this male writer in a piece that will infuriate the opposite sex (including his wife Liz Jones), is women don't like wimps after all... At a dinner party recently, I encountered the depressingly familiar sight of a dynamic thirty- something woman accompanied by a nerdy male sidekick that she'd browbeaten into proposing to her.

OP should marry Harpo from The Color Purple. He was very manly.

Many of the memes, values and attitudes we have in modern society stem from a rejection of traditional values, and relativism.

I'm not saying this is bad, but to me it explains why men these days don't act as traditional men once did. I think in some sense though, the traditional values don't hold water since men and women IMO aren't that different.

Exactly. I mean I'm not into erm wearing fluffy jumpers with a picture of a kitten on the front or writing flowery poetry or calling 'woo-hoooooooo' to a friend on the other side of the street but what is wrong with that?

Is that supposed to be feminine or masculine?

If it's in a high-pitched voice, I would say feminine. Masculine would be deeper and use different words such as 'Oi !!!' or 'Wha-heyyyyyy'

But what's wrong with either?

Weren't the beatniks of the 60s just guys wearing berets and skinny pants? And the tops and dandies before that were men who were extra concerned with their clothes and hair. Metrosexual is just a new word for an old concept. I am not attracted to effeminate men, but they don’t affect my life so I don't really mind what they do. Likewise, I hope that most men don’t lament the lack of femininity among women. So I don’t know how to darn socks: big whoop.

Nothing wrong with a sensitive and well-groomed man. Wish my husband would take some pointers from these guys and at least wax his hairy back.

I am interested in kind but masculine men who are into traditional manly things and not into interior decorating and getting pedicures.

Am I imagining this transformation or are men really changing?
You must be referring to gay men.

I attribute it to Global Hormonal Change. Be patient, Al Gore should have a book out about it soon.
