And that's exactly my point. why would someone hire an aging stripper when they can hire someone fresh out of film school, a person who has been spending a few years cultivating film contacts while the stripper was grinding on a pole?
I don't have a problem with women doing it for a living, but I hate the fact that men who profit from it outright lie about ones prospects once the money dries up due to aging. At least give young women the truth so they can plan accordingly. the prime years to sell your body are the same prime years to begin a career (and are prime years to ind a husband.) sex workers don't do either and the merry go round stops at 30, tops. then what?

All women. I was never hot enough to make money by standing there looking pretty, but I had no idea that how I was viewed at 24 is far different than what happened at 35. nobody gets it unless you tell them. that's why the strip club owners don't fess up. they know they don't have to.

I do not believe that you have 40 something stripper friends who are earning money like a 22 year old. sorry, not buying that.
Then again, you then hook up with a couple of new guys your age(mid 40s) and all they can talk about is that you should be in the porn film industry or at least a stripper cuz 'of the bank"..... A quick Google returns a book published by those two authors from 1971 on prostitution, which uses as its data interviews from the previous 10 years and anecdotal evidence from the prior 50 years. That means going back to 1921. Hardly a relevant study when there's been so much change in the adult entertainment trade - and personal health knowledge - in the past 40 years.
If that isn't the work originally cited then I have to beg off commenting, since I can't construct a rebuttal against a paper that isn't cited properly.

What I meant was that looking at them as freaks - outside of their films - would be a mistake. Kings and Presidents still put their pants on one leg at a time in their bedroom, despite the majestic splendor you experience in their public personae.

Boring and dumb for...you? Or for them? I could envision it being a little of both. Sure, they become jaded after a while; just like I occasionally become jaded after 30 years of teaching martial arts. That is my understanding. Furthermore it is pathetic that some are letting their own prerogative and bias against this media instead of taking a good hard view of the facts. IE using a 40 year old study of 50 year old data to proclaim their "gospel" or their own ideas on the issue.
I would be inclinded to belive some of the assertions but fail to provide substance.
Do I think porn is good? No I don't. But I wont pass judgement on those who do enjoy watching it or work in the industry.

When I was a few years younger, I was encouraged to go into porn or be a gigolo. Of course I considered it a couple times. Glad I never did it but that is just me.
I would think a past in the sex industry would close quite a few doors. Of course it would open a few others.
