And let's not even discuss the metastasizing growth of STDs in this country.

Nope. Back to the original point. A guy who moves from woman to woman, promising one thing and then moving on, is pretty much a destructive presence. Hey, if everybody recognizes its casual sex, then that's one thing. But the guys we're talking about aren't doing that. They'll say and do anything just to put another notch on the bedpost.
No, NOT back to the original point - deal with this one first, please.

You asked for valid citations, and when I present them you shrug them off as being invalid because you could find an equal number of contrary studies? Then you have to throw in your opinion on my supposed agenda? That's not worthy of either of us.

No, that doesn't fly. And neither does trying to switch gears by stating "womanizer" and "promiscuous" are completely different words. Of COURSE they're different words. What I said was that the studies I found categorize "womanizer" under the more general term of "promiscuity". I hardly think "womanizer" is a professional-enough term to find its way into Lancet or NEJM.

Speaking of "womanizer" - I agree with your point that "Hey, if everybody recognizes it's casual sex, then that's one thing." The problem is that I don't feel this thread has addressed the differentiation between that species and the heartless bastards you refer to in the latter sentences.

The genus may very well be "Promiscuous" - the species may include "womanizers", "players", "swingers", "hookers", "escorts", "husbands" and "wives" and "boyfriends" and "girlfriends" and ...

But only a foolish General would go into the following battles using the same strategies and tactics, especially if the new battles are deployed in totally different theaters ...

My impression of a womanizer growing up was that they do it at the expense of the women they sleep with or they are unfaithful. I don't have a problem with having mutliple partners, whatever it is called, as long as they are honest about not wanting a monogamous relationship. Some people are just not in a place to be, that doesn't mean they shouldn't date.

Unfortunately, my father was a womanizer. My mother and my siblings paid the price (initially) but I have to say... now that he's an old man with one foot in the grave, I think he's paid (and is still paying) the highest price of all.

He left a string of ex-wives, estranged children in fatherless homes, court orders for back support, bankruptcy, and least but not least, guilt and demons that he is still dealing with.

It was his choice, but it's too bad that his poor decisions affected so many of us in such a painful, destructive way. All of our lives could have been so different.

I only have the mental lesson doesn't mean I deploy the same tatics in the next battle... if one doesn't know or remember the result of the mistake/battle and expects a different outcome who's the fool then??...

Disagreed. Women can be called skanks and wh***s, even if they don't put out.

Maneater.

Nothing wrong with a womaniser as long the "womanised" are fully aware of it and consenting. The issue is when deception is part of it. Many men claim to be faithful and exclusive and lie through their teeth to get into your pants.

A man who is an open womaniser and does not deceive , I really have no issue with. I don't find it a great way to lead your life but that is MY problem and my prejudice.

Many people are not monogamous by nature and that is fine. Nothing in the rule book says you have to be into commitment against your will. I prefer a man who is honest and strong enough to admit he has no interest in a relationship. You can respect someone who tells it as it is.

But a guy who flutters from one woman to another pretending to care about you is just a scumbag IMO. Same for women who are man-eaters.

The issue is simply one of honesty. And the moral courage to be who you are openly without pretence.

Good point.
The malicious slander and slurs should not be applied to either men or women who choose to live differently than the norm.
