Oh, idiotic stereotypes.

It's not an idiotic stereotype when you consider the fact that MOST nerds sit around thinking more about getting sex then actually getting it, hence the thread we're posting in about this type of topic. go figure.

whatever. some of these people are either not true nerds in the traditional sense or they have discovered a different and popular version of nerds in the world.....I see a few of you are living in a world where nerds have the same social/sexual skills on a consistent and obvious basis as (for lack of a better word) the social butterflies and popular. But oh of course nerds have never been viewed as different or whatever. okay whatever good luck there.

I know quite a few nerds that have perfectly fine social skills. Not sure about their sexual skills, but quite a few of them are married or in LTRs with very non-nerdy partners, which I never quite understood. I know a lot of nerdy guys with decidedly un nerdy girlfriends/wives and it always struck me as odd that they would marry someone who doesn't share any of their hobbies, or rolls their eyes at them.

I also know a few nerds that are EXTREMELY socially awkward and can seriously make an entire group of people feel uncomfortable just by being present. It's amazing, really.

I've started playing D&D with a group of people and only one of them is really socially uncomfortable. The rest of us are all pretty playful and social with each other and others. We've actually bonded over stories about social ostracising growing up.

I didn't say none of them had social/sexual skills or that no nerds ever get married: I said the idea that's being carted around here is they are now on par with non nerds in terms of social and sexual ability as a given and as a whole. Since when? In fact, there's no such thing as a nerd if that's the case. But anyways I don't give a crap.

Is this high school? Of course, nerds want sex too. The simplistic categorizations of people to smokers, preps, and nerds is very immature and high schoolish. Grow! Dont be stagnate!

Not true. There's plenty of nerds who play guitar.
Most of the people I know who play in rock bands and various instruments including guitars are uber-nerds.

So many 1980's stereotypes of nerd culture on these forums. I'm not saying there are NO people in the world that still wear pocket protectors, look like poindexter, and have no idea how to talk to women, but the overall scene has largely evolved and most of my friends today that I consider to be "Nerds" all have great social skills and networking ability. Most of them are married, in LTRs, or are at the very least actively dating (like me). Give nerds a chance they just might surprise you
