I've always had trouble with dating through the years, but I have managed to have a few relationships. I've noticed that all of my girlfriends have been foreign. One was a citizen but she spent her childhood and formative years in another country. Yes, I'm Asian and a couple of the women in question have been Asian, but I have always lived in areas where there are tons of Asian-American women.

I am also VERY American. I can barely speak my native language, love football, Robert DeNiro, Pizza, and Kenneth Cole. Interestingly enough, many of my Asian male friends ended up marrying foreign women too.

Have any of you guys/gals found yourself in the same situation? Why do you think this is?

I haven't.

The only thing it is is... nothing. I approach more latina women than white women and we seem to hit it off better.

I us getting along better has anything to do with their nationality though. I've also had an indian girlfriend.

I've gone on plenty of dates with white girls though. I just really love speaking Spanish

Yeah, most girls I date are 1.5 generation, like they came here ages 6-13. Some are FOB's, a few born here. I like the 1.5, they can understand American culture and cultural references, but they're still somewhat tethered to their own culture.

I'm pretty American too but not born here, but I'm in between I guess, so it makes sense I haven't dated too many born here types.

Is that it? Or is cause you find yourself more attracted to latina women, psychically.
Anyway, As for as far as the post goes.
I mean other then looks; Anyone can be the same to be honest. I would say that american's that date by far are more open to the common stereotype. They commonly don't seek looks>intelligence (Given age groups, But who doesn't). I'd say if you're looking for intelligence over looks then it wouldn't hurt to just keep trucking along. I'm not saying that most american's are dumb. (Cause I've been one in heritage for over 140 years, Was born In the Us, In michigan. ) I'm just simply saying that the number of american's that understand how the world works and that the aspect of the party life style is dumb and childish. Is pretty low, and they'll do anything to waste time so they will not be "bored". I've had a lot of relationships, have really gone both ways i've noticed a difference in intelligence and looks. The Asian-American girl that I dated was very clumsy and not very intelligent. All opinion if you're searching for another.

Why do you think that is dude?

Do you think that is because so many Asian American born women tend to go for white guys?

I normally go out with Asians but I have dated Americans and Latin too. A bit different but it’s been alright. If I had to pick it would be Asian.

RobertPolygot and I have exchanged some of the same ideas in other threads. If you come from a background where you are ethnically attuned, especially Italian, Greek or Southern European and are first and second generation, the conversation tends to flow better with people who are from similar backgrounds. But again, you still have the same problems as you do with the population at large: You still have to find someone you click with but you have a much smaller pool to work with.

I grew up in a pretty Protestant part of Ohio. My best friends in college were the ethnic types from the Cleveland area who went to Ohio State, because that's the kind of person I was.

Here's my DeVito quote again from "Get Shorty" describing "real" Italians: "It's more like your attitude. Your tone, your speech patterns demonstrate a certain confidence in yourselves, in your opinions, your indifference to conventional views."

People from these backgrounds tend to be more open, more politically incorrect. You can joke around about stuff and have fun without someone getting all indignant about it. That's what I've found, anyway.

American does not mean white girl BTW. American means born here.

I can only assume that American women are not as a whole attracted Asian men (including Asian American women) from my experiences.
