As far as women from YOUR island go, the "English Rose" types seem to like me best, particularly if red-haired. In 2007, I was on a 49 Euro hop from Gran Canaria to Madrid, and seated in a 3-3 config. I was at the window, and next to me was this Sarah Ferguson-alike, minus her current weight issues, and her husband was in the aisle seat. She looked over and smiled a few times during the flight. Either she found me pleasant, or thought I was a fellow Brit. right back atcha.
Lol You should of went after that Brit.

I was amazed to find out, within the last 5 years, that the porn industry is largely conducted in tacky tilt-up office parks smack in the middle of L.A.'s San Fernando Valley (the Valley). The 405 bisects it in roughly two halves and those places are within view of the freeway. I have driven past them at least a thousand times, not even knowing that. Given the demographics of Hollywood's power brokers, your link is not surprising. I was once taking a personal interest class at night, after college, and a student told me "I'm friends with Stephen Spielberg's (or someone's) niece." I thought "And so?" That's the single most annoying thing about living in Los Angeles - that some people think they're special because they are 6 degrees of separation away from a Hollywood mucky-muck.
Being an ethnic guy, there is nothing I find more ignorant than when white people preach to me about being colorblind. Every culture has distinct attributes they bring something to the table, both good and bad. In a lot of cases, networking is the reason you find so many immigrants sharing common occupations. My people own a lot of bars and night clubs, the Greeks were traditionally in the restaurant business, Indians own C-Stores and hotels, Germans are militaristic and excel in engineering, Italians in construction and design ... these occupations and also manner of communication are often rooted in generations of culture.

Back to the Jews and you can correct me on this, but it seems to me that a lot of Jews who immigrated to this country in the first half of the 20th century were educated and/or professionals or small businessmen. They basically exported the same ideas that underpinned the Communist takeover of Eastern Europe (big government, big brother, socialism, sexual freedom, atheism) to the United States. If you look at Americans, this world view is also consistent with what the prosperous upper middle class Kulak thinks.

One idea I've been bouncing around is that what happened was that basically our institutions were pushed into adopting the value system of the upper middle class professional and that's why there are a lot of damaged people in society today. Think about it. Not everybody has the ability to be a self starter and be able to work for himself. Most people need a boss to crack the whip. If people don't have the discipline to work for themselves, what makes you think they are going to be any more competent in the way they handle their personal lives?

Just a theory. Feel free to poke holes in it.

The English Rose wouldn't have heard me say anything expect for "gracias" a time or two to the flight attendant on Spanair who brought me a Coke and a couple of shortbread cookies. Does saying thank you in Spanish 2x exude charm? If anything, it would have told her I was American. I was thinking "Sheet, this lady's got a husband."

I'm glad you didn't find it offensive, because it wasn't intended to be. (At least not in this thread. lol) It looks like you kind of agree with my point that Jews bring a different world view to these issues. Maybe the correct answer is that maybe Jews can handle it because they are used to it culturally, but Americans (Christians) cannot handle it and that's why we have such a mess on our hands today?

I can say I somewhat understand Japanese culture since I lived there but that doesn't make me Japanese. A Japanese can live in my country and understand the culture but that doesn't make him from my country. This is even seen in the business world on how to deal and make business with other countries and follow their culture. People do show certain differences in behavior, the way they socialize, the way they make business, relationships, and so on. There are big possibilities these things can be lost when a person doesn't grow up exposed to X culture. Doesn't make a person bad or good. It just means they were more exposed to another culture than the other.

I don't specifically say "I am only going to date Latinas and everyone else I'm not interested in". I have a date with a white girl this weekend and had an indian girlfriend for close to two years. I just find myself much more attracted to Latinas.. but hey my family is from brasil, maybe it's genetics hahah I'm still a white boy in their eyes though, I don't play the Brasilian card at all besides the fact that my grandparents are from Curitiba.

Different people are attracted to different things. People here are so quick to say that everyone who has any attraction to a woman besides intelligence is a pig. That's not true whatsoever.

By the way, where in Michigan are you from? I grew up in Grand Rapids.
Cool. My father is of Brasilian descent but was born in Panama.

I can only assume that American women are not as a whole attracted Asian men (including Asian American women) from my experiences.
I can't speak for all American women, but I find Asian men attractive. My ex-boyfriend was Japanese. We had dated for some time, too.

I've dated mostly American men, with two exceptions. As mentioned, my ex was born and raised in Japan. I have dated a man from the U.S. Virgin Islands. As superficial as this sounds, I do find foreign men to be quite sexy. Plus, I learn a lot of new things. I never would have eaten seaweed (not in sushi) had it not been for my relationship with Tomo...

I am also VERY American. I can barely speak my native language, love football, Robert DeNiro, Pizza, and Kenneth Cole. Interestingly enough, many of my Asian male friends ended up marrying foreign women too.

Have any of you guys/gals found yourself in the same situation? Why do you think this is?
I guess it would depend on where you live. I dont think we are going to have a lot of members from Ohio or Arkansas who have never dated Americans. But here in Los Angeles its probably common.

In thinking back over the years, I think I have dated as many, if not more foriegn born women than American born women.

Starting from the present, going back:

Russian (wife)
American (latina)
Persian (Jewish)
Persian (Jewish)
Asian
American
Brazilian
American (Hawaiian/Brazilian mix)
Belieze
Persian (Muslim)

I'm not American and no, I haven't. Since I'm not sure if I'll ever live in the States not sure if I ever will. Totally open to it though if I find the right one.
