If that's how you and some others see it, I don't care.

the overall experience is probably the issue, not just the taste and quality of the food.

I actually prefer to cook at home.

However, what really annoys me is this - I'll go out with my women friends, and inevitably, one of them orders a huge salad because it's "healthy" yet, with all the stuff in it, it's higher in calories than if she'd have just ordered a steak or pasta dish instead.
Yeah, you have to be smart when you order a salad. The best ones have grilled meats in them, not cheese, not cream dressings, etc... nuts I kind of like. While the nuts are high in fat, they add so much.

Like I said, McD's actually makes a decent salad (just don't use all the dressing they give you).

On the subject, I was told over the years that many dates (speaking about women) loathe buffets. How true is this? My impatient nature likes to grab a plate and get my food compared to waiting half an hour or more. If your order is wrong you have to wait even longer for your meal while your date has theirs. I see families at buffets, but very rarely I see young couples. Since I was left out on my young dating years, I do not know if this applies now.

When you live in Kingman or Bullhead, some of the best eatouts seem to be at the casinos in Laughlin. But the drive up there takes 45 mins, then you wait in line for another15- 30 mins, and if you choose a sit down, that's another 30 mins on top of that.

EDIT oh, I cook my own meals 95% of the time. I'm to preoccupied with preparing a meal to even care about when it's going to be done so oddly enough it doesn't bother me.

There's so much variety that can qualify as "fast food" that I doubt anybody totally turns their nose up at all of it. I suppose people automatically think cheap and unhealthy like burger and fries or taco bell when they hear that phrase.

I think the whole "fast casual(that's a focus-grouped word if there ever was one)" movement in restaurants has improved dining options in situations like this. Think places like Panera, Chipotle, etc. The food is still relatively cheap and easy but you have a lot more healthier options than you used to and it's of pretty decent quality for mass market. I wouldn't waste my time on any woman who turned her nose up at a place like that for anything outside a prearranged date or a special occasion. A woman like that is either high maintenance or some self-righteous quixotic campaigner for "social justice" or whatnot that I'd quickly get fed-up(no pun) with.

At that point I was about to have aneurysm, so instead of continuing on with the conversation I saw a BK, pulled in and ordered a #2 with fries and asked what she wanted.

She ordered something and went on our way home.

Ah, okay. I think I remember this scenario now. It came up on the peeve thread.

people need to understand in this no-gray-area country of oures that
there are no bad foods, only bad food habits
(Said by Alton Brown. Obviously your exercise habits are part of that, too)

You mean like Chipotle? I consider that casual dining, a step above McD's, but below chains like Friday's. The food is of a better quality, it's easier to put together something nutritious, and it's not fried grease. Mexican fast food is Taco Bell.

yeah. Like I have a lot of patience when it comes to people, but that conversation struck a nerve and I could only take so much of it.

Hindsight is 20/20, and in that moment it probably would have been a better idea to just tell her that I'm not stopping anywhere and we're just going home, but on that Saturday, the wheels didn't turn the way they should have.

I like fast food just fine. Like so many other absolute declarations, the title of this thread is ridiculous.
