Yeah that is best but people don't always know to say those words and may say something else like "let's be friends" but mean slow down.
Anyways, I was just trying to provide another perspective to consider but if you guys want to argue against it, go for it.
You're making excuses for people who are unwilling/unable to say what they mean. Stop it.
If people cannot say what they mean, they are not ready to be in a relationship beyond friends. They, indeed, DO know how to say those things but they're not willing to deal with the consequences of saying things directly so they obfuscate, to the detriment of everyone.

They will waste lots of time, possibly years looking for the perfect guy. Then settling for some one, tired of being alone. Then the work begins. Trying to change you into what they want you to be.
