But poor people get into relationships too though, no?
I certainly dated blue collar worker, and I loved him, that is all it matters.
We have a lot of fun dates together don't really require any money at all. I agree with CPG, it is not about lack of money, it is more about lack of imagination.
Everything I've read suggests there is a large relationship gap and a larger marriage gap between poor women and poor men.
Not sure poor college kids do. Never met many poor college kids at my schools, and they were state schools. Regular college kids get loaded/high and F.
Same way most of the poor seem to. They drink together.
State colleges had a significant working class student presence in the 1970s. Sometime around 1983 I noticed that the working class kids had essentially disappeared, and had been replaced by upper middle class kids. I presumed that the new UMC kids at the state school were kids who largely would have gone to pricey private schools a decade earlier.
A lot of fun dates don't even require any money at all. For example, beach volleyball, surfing (of course you have to have a decent surf board), swimming (isn't that great that both show a lot of skin, and the dates don't even require any money at all?)

I don't think anybody really have the right to stop "poor" people get into relationships. Plus, thread is about "dating" not getting married.
There are a lot of fun creative ways to dates.
Just a little story to share, my own sister is a trust fund baby, she married a guy my parents picked for her, nerdy college professor, she used to date this gorgeous Marine whose pay sucked. well, now, she is a depressed divorced woman with her money, she has never been truly loved by her husband. Isn't that sad?
I am very financially secure, and I make enough money to take care of myself. I am very grateful that I have some trust fund, but I prefer to work hard and pursue my own dreams. I don't need a man takes care of me. So poor men is none issue for me. Plus, a lot of people struggle financially from time to time, it builds characters. Not sure why is it such a big deal.
The real question here is why is somebody with a college degree still flipping burgers?
1) Lack of marketable skills.
2) Poor timing of entry into job market, e.g. during a recession.
3) Graduation in a field with thin employment prospects.
4) Location in a depressed region.
5) Degrees without relevant career-oriented experience have a limited useful shelf life, often cited as five years.
I can get in a relationship with a woman who is part of the "working poor"
