People that are fans of the genre seem to be trapped in simple one track minds and it drives their daily lives. I personally write off any female that engages in the music. How could we possibly share the same mental or emotional wave lengths if she is involving in such elementary behavior. What are your experiences?

This is one of the most ignorant comments I've ever heard.
You do realize that this can be true of any fan of ANY specific music genre, correct?
I'll say this as much: I listen to rap music (as well as other genres). My boyfriend does not. He loves Simon and Garfunkel, and folk music. He's not a fan of rap, and I'm not a fan of the snooze-fest he listens to. But, we're open and mature. We appreciate the specific likes/dislikes of the other. We clearly are more than just the specific genres we listen to.

Do you listen to Rap around him? How does he feel about you spending time listening to the preaching of drug dealers, womanizers and violent criminals.

C'mon man. I like many people like all kinds of music. It doesn't always mean the person likes the musicians as people.
Or what they do with their lives. It can be as simple as enjoying listening to their music.
