True, but with OLD I suppose there's not much of a penalty involved for an attempt. He at least had her attention for a moment but being old and a liar really shot him down.

OP, the guy that responded to your ad was disrespectful. He didn't respect the age range that you put on your ad and he lied about his age. But you probably shouldn't have told him to go find someone his own age, that just gave him ammo to retaliate. You should have shut him down by telling him that he lied about his age and he didn't respect your age range.

In relation to your question, I had the reverse happen recently. A 22 year old hit on me and at the time I was 38. I'm married so she had absolutely no chance. But what I realized is that if I was single, there is no way I would date someone that young...sometimes it works the other way around.

Yep I'm 36 and have girls aged 18-26 or so, hit on me all the time. Women my own age very very seldom do.

I think it's kind of shady when anyone hits on someone that is generally young enough to be their kid.

Im in my mid 30's and have had 19-23 year olds hit on me. In fact, two within the past month. I find it 'cute' and flattering, not at the least bit creepy.

I told him he needs to look for women his own age and he got mad and told me I was not mature enough to handle a 37 year old. He said I have the looks but not the brains. Again, I told him we don't have much in common and he needs to look for women his own age. I just think it's really creepy for these older guys to try and hit on young women. Yes he was good looking, but I am looking for someone I have things in common with. Not an older guy pretending to be a young hot guy!

There is really nothing creepy about a man 10 years older asking you out.
My husband is 10 years older than me, oh wait, I asked him out........nevermind.....

Older guys often think younger women are hitting on them when they are not.

What they guys don't realise is that the young women think it is 'safe' to be friendly and sociable with guys their dad's age, because they (the young women) are absolutely certain that these old dudes would never make the mistake of thinking they were sexually interested in them. So they don't have to be standoffish in order to avoid giving the wrong impression, the way they do with guys their own age.

So when one asked me recently if I had a GF, she wasn't hitting on me, she was just being friendly. Yeah makes sense. She probably had no Idea I was 36, she probably thought I was quite abit younger, as people often tell me.

If you are into health and fitness especially, you can often look younger than your actual age.
Same probably applies to hawaiiancoconut a few posts back.
