That's the big question. If she's just singing along to the radio around friends, that's one thing, but if she's dragging people to karaoke or open mike nights to share her talent with the world maybe some gentle intervention is needed. The OP's not being very forthcoming.
Eh - even then - I don't really see what the problem is. There are lots of bad karaoke singers. If she's trying to get people to pay to hear her sing - that's different. But it doesn't sound like she's trying to do that. And if her friends don't want to go with her - then that's their decision.

Hah, if being a good singer were required to participate in karaoke, it wouldn't exist.
I would say that if it is indeed a big thing where her friends are seriously made uncomfortable by her actions, they'd decline to participate in such outings...if this is even the case.

Yeah, I have friends to whom I have to say things like, "Karaoke on Friday? Uh, well, I think I'm washing my car that day? You have fun, though."
I dated one guy who thought he could rap but, he was awful. Another guy thought he could sing. His singing was atrocious. I couldn't tell them, though. I didn't want to hurt their feelings and it was funny to watch them make fools of themselves. LOL

I would only tell her if she was planning to try out for American Idol to save her the humiliation on national TV. Otherwise, who cares? Some people love to sing, and telling her she's awful could make it less enjoyable for her and definitely cause her to be self-conscious.
Bad news guys, she tried to sing at a karaoke session and got booed so hard. She was so upset that it broke my heart. The good news though is that I cheered her up by saying I think she's good, so now she only wants to sing around me.
Do you think that you pulling her back, and saying, "Hey, don't get up there and sing, you'll only embarrass yourself" would have been any LESS hurtful?
Also, who TF goes to a karaoke place and boos people, other than drunks? Karaoke is, by nature, ridiculous.

I didn't go, she went with friends.
