I've been dating this woman and really like her, the thing is she thinks she can sing and does it a lot. She's off key and gets on some people's nerves. I haven't told her because I don't want to hurt her feelings. I usually like to be honest but I don't think I can tell her. She said she wasn't interested in doing it as a career anyway. Is it okay not to tell her?

Like, just singing around the house? Singing in public? Taking gigs?

What would possibly be gained by sharing your opinion?

Nothing I guess, it makes her happy and I'm willing to deal with it.

Then don't sweat it. Lots of people love doing things they're not fantastic at doing. I'll bet you have hobbies you're not amazing at as well. Most people do.

A good rule of thumb in any situation of etiquette is to ask what speaking up would accomplish. Is it a big deal if she's not an amazing singer? Probably not.

If shes not doing concerts then let it go. Girl loves to sign, let her relax, its not like shes touring the country and charging for her shows

If she's singing, she is HAPPY! I myself am a singer, and I encourage EVERYONE to sing, and to sing like IT DOESN'T MATTER, because if you are only expressing yourself, it doesn't matter! Singing raises your vibrations and is healing to the body and soul. So, let it go, and just enjoy hearing her charming off-key singing. It would only matter if she were in a choir and it stood out.

My boyfriends used to turn the radio up louder when I would start singing. Try that. Took me awhile to realize I was not the next Barbara Streisand, but it worked.
