So let me get this straight...

At a wedding a guy makes a dance related joke and then proceeds to place a hand in the appropriate dance position? How is this offensive and not related to the joke he made?

Maybe an example of people (OP) no longer having a sense of humor!?!

I've always found it best with strangers to not touch them outside of a handshake until you get to know them. I'm trying to avoid a swift punt to the jewels.

From what i gathered the OP and the guy were paired together in the wedding party.

Or an example of someone who isn't comfortable being touched in that manner by someone they don't know?

The fact that someone is "paired with someone in a wedding party" doesn't mean that they are required to let go of whatever personal boundaries they may have.

OP sounds like a joy to go out and do things with.

Not just her. Good thing he didn't offer her a drink.

That means nothing! I'm partnered with people I've known for months every day at work, don't mean I want them touching me outside a handshake.

Anywhere that is normally covered by a bathing suit . Although maybe the OP only wears a one-piece, in which case her concern makes perfect senses.
