I recall a year ago a lady my age gave me a nearly homicidal side eye and briefly chewed me out for standing off to side to let her and others on bus first.
An older lady there on bus stop too, told me not to let these "new ones" ruin it for the rest of us.
It really wasn't an approach. I really wanted to channel an inner Donald Trump and yell, "I don't think so", but maintained my gentleman disposition.

Why would it be an approach? Why would she think it was one? Maybe she was too young to have any experience with people holding doors for each other (for, and by, and gender), and being thoughtful and considerate simply as a general way of life? Jeez! It's not a big deal; you just say "thank you", and move on about your day.
I recall a time where there were some things that are parents did or grand parents did, (ie fathers and grand fathers specifically)...would do to approach a woman.
I would say approaching a lady out in public, with no other social ties whatsoever to her, was more common than it is today.
For instance, my dad approached my mom at the beach simply because they were parked next to each other.
How receptive would a woman be today if the same situation were to occur? As a man would you try to strike up a convo with a woman that wound up being near your vicinity at such a place or event? Be it a concert, beach, or public situation?

Not much would be off-putting as long as you say hi. Always say hi, hello, or any version of a greeting. And be casual about it.
women have it 9999999999999999999999999999999999 times easier all they have to do is smile and make eye contact for attention..
men have to second guess.....if shes married, a boyfriend, a lesbian, a trans... or high powered man eater .
by the time men are 25, 30 they have been rejected hundreds of times or told no..... women cant relate to this ..as most wont approach a guy …
but like to be chased..
also today ...if a woman sees a man approaching the defensive creep shields go up.....and she's looking at you like she passed gas... and wants to escape
the best you can do is be nice respectful...… keep in mind women are like cats...… ..you cant push them to like you...

To be honest, there are certain guys that are so easy that even another man could have them just by appearing. But those are typically low value dudes
But yeah, this "all a woman has to do is step outside the house and men literally levitate towards her." I always crack up when I hear or read that.
And I can understand why a woman would get nervous when a guy approaches her. Fortunately, to bypass those defenses you just have to avoid coming off as if you are starving and about to tear her to pieces.
