It's interesting the different takes on this. This one girl I asked thought that the guy would like it since it showed that she is not wasteful of food and of his money.

Do you mean literally asking for a "doggie bag"? I didn't know people still used that expression. I remember my parents using that when I was a kid LOL
If I need to take something home, provided that the date is over after dinner, will occasionally ask for a box to take leftovers home. I would never use the term "doggie bag".
Is that what the OP was getting at? Or am I misunderstanding this question? Been a long day, I could be wrong LOL
If you are asking because you are going on a date and you don't want to make a fauz pau then just offer to pay, and leave the restaurant.
Being the woman that I am, and when single, I always did offer to pay - never got taken up on it but would insist on leaving the tip. I don't recall ever asking to take something home because the date usually never ended after dinner - usually we would go dancing.

No, I don't think she used the actual term! LOL. Just taking left overs home I guess.

Admittedly, I'd be thinking WTF? Why did you order more than you could eat, a$$h*le? But, that's just me.

Well for me, I'm very petite, so restaurant portions are always way more than I could eat in one sitting. But guys usually eat more, so I don't know about that.

If a guy takes you out to a nice pricey restaurant, he's obviously showing he's not cheap, therefore there aint nothin wrong with it.
I myself looooove to eat and if the food is good, heck if i'm leaving any behind.
When me and my b/f starting dating we would always go out to nice, expensive places, he always paid and we both always took food home.

OT, but I read from another post that your sex life with your first husband was soo bad, and yet now it's great with the new guy.

What made the difference for you? Is it because you weren't getting your emotional needs met from your first husband?

If my date was bothered by the fact that I asked for a to-go box after a good dinner, I'd think there was something wrong with him.

I agree, which is why I usually order a la carte. But, I don't know any man who can't finish a meal at a restaurant.
